A woman in Hawaii clubbed a peacock to death (because it was sqawking) and she is in court for second degree animal cruelty.
In South Africa there were dozens of beached whales and they weren't able to get back into water and they were suffering so they were shot (in the head).
Ian Klopper of the National Sea Rescue Institute:
"The most humane way to perform euthanasia on whales is to shoot them through the brain and this was successfully performed on those whales suffering on the beach. We wish to stress emphatically that the most humane effort was employed to prevent further suffering of these animals," he said.I fail to see how clubbing a bird could be the most humane way to kill it.
